To select the instances to use, click on them to focus them in Protoinput and click "apply to focused window". Set the controller index if using a controller and ensure that "xInput" is ticked true. Once all is set in Protoinput, click "Inject" on the top right side. You should notice the mice don't show in the game instances anymore.

This is for PC using a free open source application called Nucleus Coop, what it does is run two instances of the game and connect them to one another.
