On 21st August 1890 Beatrice’s brother Henry Cubitt had married William Archibald Calvert’s sister Maud Mariamne at St Margaret’s Ockley. Henry and Maud had six sons, but to her disappointment no daughters. Maud Cubitt (later 2nd Lady Ashcombe) took great interest in country and local matters and in maintaining the traditions of a great country house estate.
