Peterhouse's Choir is a friendly one. You do not have to be of professional standard to join it, but it produces music of very high quality. In addition to this, the Choir enjoys an active (and well-subsidised) social life, and the College provides free singing lessons for its members with professional teachers.
The Group consists of a family of 4 schools including Peterhouse Boys, Peterhouse girls, Springvale and Peterhouse Nursery. Set just outside the quaint farming town of Marondera, on a 1060 hectare estate, with 96 hectares of pristine fields and gardens, Peterhouse has built its reputation on producing young men and women with courage, integrity and the highest levels of education.
Peterhouse, the oldest of the Cambridge Colleges, has exciting roles for Domestic Assistant, which we are seeking to fill. To clean and provide a high quality housekeeping service for a designated set of rooms and common areas within the College or an associated College house (off-site houses are mainly in Parkside and Warkworth Street).
Peterhouse Girls, founded in 1987, caters for 430 girls from Form 1 to 6th Form all but 10 of whom are full-boarders. Springvale House, founded in 1985, caters for 200 boys and girls, a mix of weekly-boarders and day-scholars from Grade 1 to Grade 7.
Peterhouse has a strong tradition in Engineering, with notable alumni including Babbage, Kelvin, Whittle and Cockerell. Although undergraduate work is centred around the University Engineering Department, which is next door to Peterhouse on Trumpington Street, College teaching is also significant.
Peterhouse is a college of superlatives - the oldest, one of the smallest, wealthiest, and definitely the most glorious. It was founded by the Bishop of Ely Hugo de Balsham in 1284. During its colourful history, Peterhouse has always tended towards eccentricity.
