Christiaan Huygens: Discoverer of Titan. Born in 1629, Huygens came from a wealthy and well-connected Dutch family, who served in the diplomatic service to the House of Orange. As a young boy he showed promise in mathematics and drawing. In 1645 he went to the University of Leiden to study mathematics and law.

Christiaan Huygens Fue el segundo de los cinco hijos de Suzanna van Baerle y de Constantijn Huygens, uno de los principales poetas clásicos del Siglo de oro neerlandés. Cursó estudios de derecho y matemáticas en la Universidad de Leiden de 1645 a 1647, y de 1647 a 1649 en el Colegio Orange , en Breda.
