Born in Rockdale, Texas USA, Mary Sue was actually raised in Houston, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from Texas University. She shortly discovered Dianetics and, giving up a potential career in petroleum research, trained in Dianetics, receiving her Hubbard Dianetic Auditors Certificate in Wichita, Kansas in 1951.
Mary Sue Hubbard, född Whipp 17 juni 1931 i Rockdale, Texas, död 25 november 2002 i Los Angeles, Kalifornien, var L. Ron Hubbards tredje fru. Hon var gift med Hubbard från 1952 till hans död 1986. De fick fyra barn, Diana, Quentin, Suzette och Arthur. Hon blev tidigt involverad i dianetik och bestämde sig för att bli dianetik-auditör.
Hubbard continued to develop Dianetics (and ultimately Scientology), through which he met his third and last wife, Mary Sue Whipp, in late 1951 – only a few months after his divorce. The controversy surrounding the divorce had severely dented his reputation.
