My grandfather and Menuhin’s father were from the same Belarusian town. One of my uncles, Yehudi’s age, was a violin prodigy who drowned in a swimming accident in his early teens.
Yehudi Menuhin (22 Nisan 1916, New York - 12 Mart 1999, Berlin), Amerikalı keman virtüözüdür. Belarus göçmeni Yahudi bir ailenin çocuğu olan Menuhin, henüz üç yaşındayken, bit pazarından alınıp kendisine hediye edilen bir kemanı çalmakta gösterdiği ustalıkla, müzik derslerine dört yaşında başladı.
Throughout his life Menuhin was concerned with education and humanitarian causes. He always made a point of putting these concerns into practical action, which included the founding in 1963 of the Yehudi Menuhin School at Stoke d'Abernon in Surrey, a boarding school for young talented musicians whose ex-pupils include Nigel Kennedy.

Yehudi Menuhin nació en Nueva York el 22 de abril de 1916, comenzando a estudiar violín a los cuatro años de edad con Sigmund Anker en San Francisco, su primer maestro; y debuta a los 7 años con la Sinfonía Española. Posteriormente amplió sus estudios con Louis Persinger, que a los 8 años lo hace debutar profesionalmente.
Yehudi Menuhin (22. huhtikuuta 1916 New York, Yhdysvallat – 12. maaliskuuta 1999 Berliini, Saksa) oli juutalaissyntyinen yhdysvaltalainen viulisti, alttoviulisti ja kapellimestari. Menuhin vietti suurimman osan urastaan Englannissa , [1] jossa hän sai kaksi kunniamerkkiä – OM ( Order of Merit ) ja KBE ( Knight Commander ) – ja myöhemmin vielä paronin arvon.
