Shawn Colvin is an American singer-songwriter. While she has been a solo recording artist for decades, she is best known for her 1997 Grammy Award-winning song "Sunny Came Home".
Shawn Colvin’s unique but deeply rooted vocal style and penetrating lyrics helped make her one of the most distinctive artists to emerge from the ’80s folk scene. Born in South Dakota in 1956, Colvin came up on folk music and began performing professionally while attending college in Illinois.
Shawn Colvin is a country and western/blues singer songwriter. Her guitar skills are dazzling, yielding an acoustic guitar endorsing a finger picking style. She has also won two Grammy awards for her song “Sunny Came Home” and another one for her album “Steady On” in 1991.
