A Trans-Siberian Orchestra foi fundada em 1996 pelo compositor Paul O'Neill em Nova Iorque, [1] juntamente com seus amigos Jon Oliva, Robert Kinkel e Al Pitrelli. O nome do grupo foi inspirado na Ferrovia Transiberiana, na Rússia, porque de acordo com Kinkel, ela conecta diferentes culturas isoladas, assim como a música.
