Nagisa Ōshima. Nagisa Oshima (March 31, 1932 – January 15, 2013) was a Japanese movie director and screenwriter. His movies include In the Realm of the Senses and Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence . Oshima was born on March 31, 1932 in Kyoto. He studied at Kyoto University. Oshima was married to Akiko Koyama from 1960 until his death in 2013.

Cruel Story of Youth (Japanese: 青春残酷物語, Hepburn: Seishun Zankoku Monogatari) is a 1960 Japanese film directed by Nagisa Ōshima, starring Yusuke Kawazu and Miyuki Kuwano as teenage delinquents and lovers. It is Ōshima's second feature film and is known for its elements of Japanese nuberu bagu.The film won the 1960 Blue Ribbon Awards for Best Newcomer for Ōshima.

Tomiyama is a film producer and cofounder of Image Forum, and she played one of the inn’s young maids in In the Realm of the Senses. The article was translated for the Criterion release by Ted Goossen.
