18 de may. de 2020 · KABC Los Angeles confirmed the actor died in his sleep Friday night, with his daughter Hope Mulbarger telling KABC in a statement, “He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end. We loved him so very much. We will miss him forever.” Willard’s "Modern Family" co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson wrote on Twitter, “Rest In Peace sweet @Fred_Willard.
Willard debuteerde in 1966 als acteur toen hij mocht opdraven in eenmalige gastrolletjes in de komedieseries Hey, Landlord en Pistols 'n' Petticoats. Een jaar later maakte hij zijn filmdebuut als sportcoach op een middelbare school in Teenage Mother. Sindsdien was Willard te zien in meer dan 200 verschillende film- en televisieproducties.
