9 de dic. de 2020 · It seems that Gottle o' Geer is widely considered the worst Fairport (Convention) album of the 1970s. Like usually, I disagree, even though it needed some further listening to get into this. The opening track "When First Into This Country" sounds very uninteresting to me, and "Lay Me Down Easy" is not any better.

I rimanenti, con la produzione di Nicol, pubblicano Gottle O'Geer, in cui il nome della band è significativamente abbreviato in Fairport. Successivamente Nicol torna nella band che incide The Bonny Bunch of Roses nel 1977 e Tipplers Tales nel 1978 , più che altro per onorare gli impegni con l'etichetta Vertigo , che a causa delle scarse vendite non rinnova il contratto con la band.
Gottle O'Geer is the eleventh studio album by English folk rock band Fairport Convention. The album was released through Island Records in May 1976. The departure of Sandy Denny, Trevor Lucas and Jerry Donahue following Rising for the Moon in 1975 left Fairport Convention reduced to Dave Swarbrick, Dave Pegg and Bruce Rowland, and contractually obliged to produce one more album for Island Records.
