Ari Leschnikoff was born as Asparuh Leshnikow in Haskovo, then Principality of Bulgaria. He was a famous Bulgarian tenor singer, who gained international prominence as a member of the all-male German close harmony ensemble Comedian Harmonists.

Roman Cycowski, whose character narrates Harmony, eventually moved to Los Angeles and in his late 90s became America’s oldest practicing cantor. He died in 1998, outliving Adolf Hitler by 53 years. The Harmonists’s story, like thousands of others, needs to be remembered.
It was at the Großes Schauspielhaus in Berlin that he eventually met Roman Cycowski and Ari Leschnikoff , two other members of what later became the Comedian Harmonists. In response to a newspaper advertisement, he appeared in 1927 for an audition at Harry Frommermann’s apartment in Berlin-Friedenau, Stubenrauchstrasse 47.
One of his biggest successes was the role Ari Leschnikoff in the German movie Comedian Harmonists which won many awards.
