While attending a party in London’s Cromwell Road the 19-year-old passed out under the combined influence of champagne and Mandrax and was subsequently drowned by those trying to revive him. His replacement, Jerry Nolan, died in 1992 after slipping into a coma that lasted for weeks.

When Rivets began missing rehearsals he was replaced by the guitarist Sylvain Sylvain (real name Ronald Mizrahi), who had previously played with Murcia in a trio called The Box.
