"Ready To Roll" was released in October 1978, produced by Hal Davis, but was largely ignored. Too bad - although not quite in the league of "Any Way You Like It" or "The Devil In Me", the material is actually quite strong.
26 de jul. de 2018 · Thelma Houston was a mainstay artist at Motown from 1971-1979, worthy additions to previous SMR reissues of Thelma's Motown work. The Devil In Me (1977), Ready To Roll (1978) and Ride To The Rainbow (1979) focus on her work in the wake of the international success of her timeless cover of 'Don't Leave Me This Way', which catapulted Thelma to worldwide mainstream recognition.
Ready to Roll spawned a hit single, "Saturday Night, Sunday Morning," which also appeared in remixed form on 1979's Ride to the Rainbow. Houston parted ways with the Motown organization, and the following year she signed with RCA; her first album for her new label was 1980's Breakwater Cat, which reunited her with Jimmy Webb, who was executive producer for the project and contributed five songs.
