The Flamin' Groovies story goes all the way back to 1965 when the band began in their hometown of San Francisco, California. They had their first brush with success in 1971 with the song and album entitled Teenage Head, which is listed in the 2006 book, 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.In 1972, Chris Wilson joined the band as lead singer and they released the song Slow Death.

A different line-up of the Groovies (still including Jordan and Alexander) emerged in the late ’80s, releasing the Rock Juice album in 1992 before returning to the shadows. Eventually, Cyril Jordan and George Alexander reunited with Roy Loney for live gigs as The Flamin’ Groovies.
The Flamin' Groovies were formed in 1965 in San Francisco by vocalist Roy Loney and guitarist Cyril Jordan. They played rhythm and blues and Mersey-beat covers, and in many ways followed the trail of fellow citizens Beau Brummels.They were obliterated by the hippie movement and by the boom of acid-rock.
