I watch Thirtysomething on DVD with my husband (who has a Ken Olin quality about him)and think to myself how timeless this show is. Sure their phones either have cords or are huge, the women are often wearing shoulder pads, the packaged products like Pampers are a riot to see - but these characters are facing the same issues my friends and I are now.

While completely of its time, it was also ahead of its time in many respects, reflecting the angst of the baby boomer generation while offering a more grounded, realistic alternative to the popular soaps of the time, such as Dynasty , Dallas and Knots Landing .
