1 de ene. de 1984 · Pete Shotton, John Lennon's best friend from childhood till the end of his life, wrote the book a few years after John's death. John bought Pete a supermarket on Hayling Island after he got famous. Because Pete's family lived in Liverpool, he stayed with John at Kenwood during the week and they shared the same experiences (mostly cheating on their wives and doing drugs).

He'd known John since they were young children and was around during the Beatles' entire career and beyond. Even so, it is unbiased and thus does not read like a seedy 'tell-all' exploit (as other biographies written by "insiders" often do), or like an obituary full of nothing but praise and worship.
