The novel was serialized in The Strand Magazine (1901–02) and was published in book form in 1902. Although the film is led by British comedy royalty Peter Cook ( Bedazzled ) and Dudley Moore ( Arthur, Like Father Like Son ), this woefully misguided take on the classic material rarely utilizes any of the performers to their full potential.
