Allan Glen's School had a long and proud histoy of playing rugby, with playing fields at Bishpbriggs. Although the school was latterly under the control of Glasgow City Council and its predecessors, the playing fields were never actually owned by them, and on closure of the school the School Club became owners of the ground, now known as the Bearyards.
Allan Glen’s golf match Thursday September 11th 2014. The annual golf outing took place at Pollok Golf Club on Thurs-day 11th September attended by 14 players. On a beautiful day, the John G Kerr trophy was won by David McLaren. A fur-ther 8 Old Boys came along for the dinner and presentation of the trophy. Brian.
The school was founded by Allan Glen (born 1772 in Pollokshaws, Glasgow; died 1850 in Gourock) who left £21,000 in his will to endow a school "to give a good practical education" to boys.
