This album was recorded during five concerts in Peking and Shanghai in October 1981, the first performances of contemporary music ever given in the People's Republic of China. Tracks 2, 4, 7, 11, 12 and 15 were composed especially for this occasion. Mixed at the Ferber Studio on MCI equipment, mastered at Sterling Sound.

After investigation, it appears that some copies of the DVD were sold in Australia during a very limited period despite a ban but this violation has been denounced and the distribution stopped."
