UpTight is a soundtrack album by Southern soul band Booker T. & the M.G.'s for the film of the same title. The album features "Time Is Tight", the single version of which became a US Top 10 hit and a signature song for the band.

13 de may. de 2012 · As the house band for Stax Records, Booker T.& The M.G.'s served as the studio backing band for many of the label's artists through the 60s, and can be heard on many of the decade's most notable Soul and Rhythm & Blues albums- highlights include Otis Redding's Otis Blue: Otis Redding Sings Soul, Albert King's Born Under a Bad Sign, and William Bell's The Soul of a Bell.

Booker T. Jones stepped out on his own to compose and arrange the score for 1968 film Up Tight, working closely alongside the film’s production during an extended stay in Paris, France. He and Cropper separately moved their musical ambitions outside of Memphis, setting up shop in California, focusing their eyes on individual accolades in songwriting and production.
