Rod Demick was born in Wales but raised in Belfast. Before joining The Wheels he'd played in skiffle band the Vibros who later became known as the Telstars. Both were members of The Wheels by 1963-64. Demick & Armstrong's first collaboration was a single released under the name The James Brothers on Page One Records in 1968.

Herbie Armstrong has had a similarly long career, playing with Van Morrison and film composer Mark Isham, co-founding the band Fox, and even entering Britain’s Got Talent as a contestant.
Rod Demick (Prestatyn , 1947) is een Brits bassist. Hij begint al snel in de muziek als hij in Belfast, Noord-Ierland op negenjarige leeftijd de ukelele gaat spelen bij een gospelkoor. Nadat hij overstapt op gitaar start hij zijn eerste eigen bandje The Vibros, later The Telstars genaamd.
