This is a relic of Blue Ridge Parkway history, as the road’s first day of construction started here on September 11, 1935.

Linville Falls straddles three county lines (Avery, McDowell, and Burke) and while the town is fairly small, the adventures awaiting here make this one of the best day trips from Boone. The multi-tiered Linville Falls trail provides stunning views without much difficulty.
