Ypsilanti History. Ypsilanti is located where an old Native American trail crossed the Huron River. Long before the coming of the white man, it was the camping and burial ground for several Native American tribes. In 1809, three French explorers built a log structure on the west bank of an Indian trading post.

Hooded windows, a hipped roof, and extended eaves are all Italianate-style characteristics of this home built in 1860.
