23 de jul. de 2018 · Tuesday, December 24, 1912, harbor of Kobe, Japan. Miss Lottie Moon, age seventy-two, died of melancholia and senility. The remains were cremated at Yokahoma on December 26. Personal effects consisting of one steamer trunk taken care of by Miss Cynthia Miller, her traveling companion and friend.

5 de dic. de 2020 · On Christmas Eve, Lottie died aboard a ship in the Japanese harbor of Köbe on Dec. 24, 1912. She was 72 years old. Six years later, the Woman’s Missionary Union named the annual Christmas offering for international missions after the woman who had urged them to start it. Lottie’s legacy lives on.

Moon’s family encouraged their young women to find their own place in a rapidly changing society. Moon’s sister, Edmonia, preceded Lottie to China as a missionary, and Lottie joined her and others there in 1873.

The offering was officially named in 1918 by Woman’s Missionary Union in honor of the missionary to China who urged churches to start it and give sacrificially.
