Portrait of Jeanne depicts Pissarro’s only surviving daughter, Jeanne Marguerite Eva, nicknamed Cocotte. Her older sister, for whom she was named, Jeanne Rachel, nicknamed Minette, had died in 1874 at the age of nine from a respiratory ailment. Cocotte (b. 1881) would be about twelve years old here, just on the brink of puberty.

Félix-Camille (1874 - 1897), also known as Titi, was the third son of Camille and Julie Pissarro. This portrait, showing him at the age of seven, is one of several paintings and drawings of him by his father. Before his premature death in London in 1897, Félix worked as a painter, engraver and caricaturist under the pseudonym Jean Roch.
