I read fast, I can often finish a book in one or two sittings. It’s my favorite form of entertainment, I prefer it to watching TV. I also read on my subway commute, that’s an hour a day. It adds up! 200 books a year is average for me, but everyone reads at their own pace and should feel great about what works for them.

My goal then was 200 words for the book, plus 200 more, which could also be in the book, or could be blog posts or other notes. Then, when I switched from first draft to revisions, I swapped out the 200 book words for time spent revising—working a minimum of 20 minutes a day on fixing up the manuscript.
