The main powers of the warp before the Age of Strife were the Eldar Pantheon, not the Chaos Gods, and so while incursion into warpspace would be escheresque and sense-defying, it wouldn't be what we consider "demonic" in the third millenium during which EVENT HORIZON takes place.
