Xarelto; Descriptions. Rivaroxaban is used to treat and prevent deep venous thrombosis (DVT), a condition in which harmful blood clots form in the blood vessels of the legs. These blood clots can travel to the lungs and can become lodged in the blood vessels of the lungs, causing a condition called pulmonary embolism (PE).
Xarelto side effects that are severe are spinal hematomas that may develop after spinal surgery with this drug. Seek medical care or call 911 at once if you have the following serious side effects: Serious eye symptoms such as sudden vision loss, blurred vision, tunnel vision, ...

Bleeding around the spinal cord (epidural or spinal hematoma) Bleeding in the eye (ocular hemorrhage) Low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia) Low numbers of certain types of white blood cells (agranulocytosis) Severe allergic reactions.
