The first thing a player should do at the start of the game is to gather a few pieces of Wood to craft a Hatchet. Next, gather Stone and other resources in order to make a Workbench. In Devast.io, you can mine resources and move around (slower than usual though) even while you're crafting, so make sure to take advantage of that.

Food are valuable items in Devast.io. They are one of the only ways to receive food, without them you would most certainly die sooner or later. Before building a base, it is very important to collect seeds. They can be found in abandoned houses or you can create them by equipping a campfire/firepit with collected food (oranges, tomatoes or acorn).
