Elle débute à ce magazine dans les années 1950 , remplace Diana Vreeland en 1971 et devient rédactrice en chef de 1973, jusqu'en 1988, année durant laquelle elle laisse la place à Anna Wintour , après 36 ans de carrière au sein du magazine.

Na madrugada desta sexta-feira (24), Grace Mirabella, a editora-chefe à frente da Vogue americana durante os anos 1970 e grande parte dos anos 1980, morreu aos 91 anos. Mirabella, começou sua carreira como assistente de Diana Vreeland na Vogue na década de 1960, e sucedeu a Vreeland como editora-chefe em 1971 e permaneceu no cargo até 1988.
