Svante Pääbo (s. 20. huhtikuuta 1955 Tukholma) on ruotsalainen evoluutiogenetiikkaan erikoistunut biologi. Pääbo valmistui tohtoriksi Uppsalan yliopistosta 1986. Hän on toiminut vuodesta 1997 Max Planck -instituutin genetiikan osaston johtajana Leipzigissa Saksassa.

Svante Pääbo founded the field of paleogenetics — the study of ancient DNA found in fossils. He was the first scientist to successfully sequence the genome of Neanderthals, a species closely related to modern humans that became extinct about 40,000 years ago.
