Alfred Louis Kroeber (1876 – 1960) “Antropólogo estadounidense. Tras estudiar Lengua y Literatura inglesa en la Columbia University de Nueva York, trabajo allí como ayudante (1897-1899) y asistió a los seminarios sobre Lingüística impartidos por Franz Boas, quien acababa de fundar el Departamento de Antropología en dicha universidad.
Alfred Kroeber (1876-1960) is largely known today as one of the first founders of modern American anthropology, and as a major contributor to culture theory via such constructs as the “superorganic” (1917a), “culture area” (Driver 1962), or “configurations of culture growth” (1969), as well as his book of definitions of culture with Clyde Kluckhohn (Kroeber and Kluckhohn 1952).
