This group was chosen to be the first Apollo flight crew because they were the best. At the time, Chaffee was the youngest person to be selected for a NASA mission. He was only 31.
Roger Bruce Chaffee (15. februar 1935 – 27. januar 1967) var en amerikansk astronaut. Selvom han aldrig havde fløjet i rummet, blev han udvalgt til den første flyvning i Apollo-programmet.
