HERBERT WEST: RE-ANIMATOR is another film from low budget Italian director Ivan Zuccon, who has been shooting Lovecraftian films for two decades now. Sadly, this one pales in comparison to Stuart Gordon's excellent 1985 splatterfest, with which it has much in common.

Re-Animator (also known as H. P. Lovecraft's Re-Animator) is a 1985 American comedy horror film loosely based on the 1922 H. P. Lovecraft serial novelette "Herbert West–Reanimator". Directed by Stuart Gordon and produced by Brian Yuzna, the film stars Jeffrey Combs as Herbert West, a medical student who has invented a reagent which can re-animate deceased bodies.
Obsessed with bringing back the dead and seeking the road to immortality, the ambitious medical student, Herbert West, triggers a horrific incident at a medical institute in Switzerland. He flees to New England to start anew. Herbert begins with Rufous, his roommate's cat. Next, he moves to human cadavers in the hospital morgue.
