Capra was born in Bisacquino, Sicily, a village near Palermo.
18 de may. de 2020 · Frank Capra, born on May 18, 1897, was an Italian American film director, producer and writer who became the creative force behind some of the major award-winning films of the 1930’s and 1940’s. Born in Bisacquino, Italy and raised in Los Angeles from the age of five, his rags-to-riches story has led film historians such as Ian Freer to consider him the “ American Dream personified.”
Good coverage of Capra’s career along with one or two nuggets of insight from Scorsese, but it is still basically a Hollywood gloss on the dark fabulism of his work from the late 1930s to the late 1940s — Capra’s view of how he thought America should be, as reflected in those movies, foreshadows Trump and the MAGA movement in truely terrifying ways.
