Mary Gibbs was only two-and-a-half years old when she voiced Boo. Because she was so young, it proved difficult to get her to stand in the recording studio and do her lines. Instead, they simply followed her around with a microphone while she played. Originally, Boo was going to return in Circle 7's Monsters, Inc. 2 as a teenager.

As a teenager, Mary was diagnosed with scoliosis and had to have reconstructive surgery a few years ago. But she’s made an incredibly fast recovery with the help of yoga and fitness - and now she even does weightlifting. “In 2012, I had a 10-vertebrae spinal fusion from scoliosis,” Gibbs said.
