9 de abr. de 2008 · The first MCH album is a contrived attempt at bland west coast pop ala the Eagles. The second album City is much better - the 2 Clark songs are improvements and McGuinn begins to sound like McGuinn again - even strapping on his 12 str. Rickenbacker for the Byrdsy title track. Unfortunately City stiffed on the charts.

They had success on the singles charts with Roger’s “Don’t You Write Her Off”, from their first album, “McGuinn, Clark & Hillman. Their second album, “City” was recorded prior to Gene Clark’s departure and their third and final album, “McGuinn-Hillman” was released in 1980.Touring extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally from 1978, they disbanded in 1980.

Gene Clark, geboren als Harold Eugene Clark (Tipton (Missouri), 17 november 1944 - Sherman Oaks (Californië), 24 mei 1991), was een Amerikaans singer-songwriter. Hij richtte in 1964 samen met David Crosby en Roger McGuinn de folkrockgroep The Byrds op. Na twee jaar begon hij aan een solocarrière, maar hij bleef door de jaren heen wel samenwerken met de (voormalige) leden van de band.
