12 de mar. de 2017 · Hank Thompson (September 3, 1925 – November 6, 2007) was a country-western music entertainer whose career spanned six decades, and who has sold over 60 million records worldwide. Thompson's musical style, characterized as Honky Tonk Swing, is a mixture of big-band instrumentation, fiddle and steel guitar that supports his distinctive, gravelly baritone vocals on songs he often writes himself.

Apart from the monster (in depth and price) Bear Family set this is the best Hank Thompson album out there. It covers his period with Capitol Records (1947 - 1961) and, while he made some excellent music after this time, he had his biggest hits with Capitol under the production guidance of Ken Nelson.

Vintage Collections (Capitol Nashville, 1996) Hank Thompson. Reviewed by Jon Johnson In 1989, Capitol released a superb 20-track Thompson collection as part of its now-defunct "Collectors' Series." "Too" superb, apparently, since it, along with most of the rest of that series, was deleted last year.
