On August 10, 2009, Alek Dzhabrailov and Zarema Sadulayeva were kidnapped and murdered. They were kidnapped from their office in broad daylight by five unknown assailants. In an interview for the Guardian, a senior official from a Russian human rights organization, Alexander Cherkasov, said that two of the kidnappers were dressed in black, while the other three were in camouflage.
