It’s almost a blend between a classic tobacco sunburst dreadnought (like the Record King Dirty 30’s at #13), and a more modern, slimmer acoustic like the Ovation’s we’ve already mentioned.

He is known as the king of the 12-string guitar, and he is well known for his vocals with such clarity and mastery in singing. Eventually, in the year 1960s when guitarists like George Harrison popularized the 12-string guitar for pop and rock music.

The sixteen tracks that make up this CD release, King of the 12-String Guitar, are culled from fifty-three songs Leadbelly recorded in New York City for A.R.C. from January to March 1935. It has been reported that Leadbelly’s performance was affected by the knowledge these recordings were intended for public ears.
