Jessie Nelson is a writer, director and producer, who wrote the book of Waitress the Musical based on Adrienne Shelly‘s 2007 film. Jessie studied briefly at the University of California Santa Cruz, but eventually dropped out to work with an experimental acting troupe known as the Mabou Mines, where she began her career in theatre.
