Michael Exall (1950–1996) Bolton Library & Museum Services, Bolton Council. Painter, printmaker, draughtsman and teacher, born in Norwich, Norfolk. Attended Hornsey College of Art, 1968–72, under Norman Stevens, and Royal Academy Schools for postgraduate studies, 1972–5. Anthony Gross and Giorgio Morandi were influences.
Hornsey College of Art, also known as HCA, founded in 1880 as the Hornsey School of Arts, was an art school in Crouch End, part of Hornsey, Middlesex, England.From 1965 it was in the London Borough of Haringey.From 1955 to 1973, when it was merged into Middlesex Polytechnic, it was called Hornsey College of Arts and Crafts.Teaching at Crouch End ceased about 1982.

23 de feb. de 2023 · The school was renamed Hornsey School of Arts and Crafts in about 1930, then to Hornsey College of Arts and Crafts 1955. in the 1930s a classical style building was built between Oaklands and the original Art School building. This became the known as the Main Building and is the only building from before 1960 that is now still standing.
Philip was born in London in 1950. He studied at Waltham Forest School of Art from 1968-69 and subsequently from 1969-73 at Hornsey College of Art, acquiring a BA in Graphic Design. In his final year, he specialised in Screen Printing and 3D design. After leaving Art College, Phil worked as an assistant to printmaker Julia Matcham producing limited editions.
