Pinball (song) " Pinball " is a 1974 song by the actor and musician Brian Protheroe. An autobiographical song written whilst Protheroe was living in a friend's flat in Covent Garden, it was released as his first single after he was signed by Chrysalis on the strength of a song he wrote and performed in a play.
This 39 track 3 CD set covers all the solo releases by the multi-talented Brian Protheroe for Chrysalis Records between 1974-76.
Chrysalis asked for originals and, liking "Pinball," signed Protheroe. "Pinball" was released as a single in 1974, debuting at 40 on the charts on its way to an eventual peak of 22. His debut album, also called Pinball, appeared later in 1974. The following year saw the release of Pick Up, which was then followed by I You in 1976.

23 de sept. de 2019 · One of my favorite discoveries is this gem by Brian Protheroe, who released a few albums in the mid-70s before taking up a long-running acting career (with intermittent returns to recording). It's an odd little blend of mellow singer-songwriter folkish-pop, light jazz, and prog. Think a weird mish-mash of Harry Nilsson, 10cc, Steely Dan, and Supertramp.
