Quadrophenia is a double album released by English rock band the Who on 26 October, 1973. It is the sixth studio album by the group. In addition to the group´s typical style – including Keith Moon´s characteristic drumming – this album also features as lot of Pete Townshend´s multi-track synthesizers and sound effects, and layered French horn parts performed by John Entwistle.

26 de oct. de 2023 · Quadrophenia featured cameos from Grease Band pianist Chris Stainton and actor John Curle (the voice of the newsreader), but otherwise it’s classic Who. First single 5:15 , which soundtracks Jimmy’s barrelling train journey to Brighton, gobbling purple hearts on the way, was written while Townshend was was “killing time between appointments” in Oxford Street and Carnaby Street.

Quadrophenia was originally released as a double album by Track Records in November 1973 (Track 2657 013).Released to coincide with The Who’s first UK and US tours for two years, it reached #2 in both countries’ album charts. The first CD version (Polydor 831 072-2) was released in the early 1980s, followed by a remastered double CD in 1996 (Polydor 531 971-2).

Quadrophenia. Quadrophenia is a stage musical based on the sixth studio album by English rock band The Who, released on 19 October 1973, and a film of the same name, released in 1979. The album was the group's second full-length rock opera, and the story reveals social, musical and psychological events from an English teenager's perspective.
