Len Garry ( Liverpool, 6 of January of 1942) is a British musician known for being a founding member in 1956 and performer of the bass box of tea ( tea-chest bass), the band The Quarry Men, founded and led by John Lennon, who was the predecessor of The Beatles. He left the band at the end of 1957. He was part of the group that re-founded the band in 1997, remaining active until the present (2018).

The Quarrymen returned to the New Clubmoor Hall in Norris Green, Liverpool, less than a month after they first played there. The concert yielded what are believed to be the first photographs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney together.
Straining each muscle and sinew.’ The choice of name was tongue-in-cheek as Lennon regarded the reference in the school song to “straining each muscle and sinew” as risible. Smith’s tenure in the band was extremely short, and was replaced in quick succession by Nigel Walley, Ivan Vaughan, and Len Garry throughout late 1956 and early 1957.

As of 2016, Hanton still tours with Len Garry and Rod Davis. Later life. Hanton married his wife, Joan, in 1965. Together, they had two children. Hanton continued to work for the Guy Rogers carpentry company until it shut down in 1979. Afterwards, he opened his own upholstery business, which he still runs today. Colin still lives in Liverpool.
En mars, Len Garry contracta une méningite (dont il se rétablira plus tard), et fut donc mis en retrait. Eric Griffiths refusa de prendre sa place à la tea-chest bass et quitta le groupe. Peu après ce changement de composition, John Lowe, un autre ami d'école de Paul McCartney, rejoignit les Quarrymen et jouait du piano avec eux lorsque c'était possible.
