A Celebration of Steeleye Span. Maddy Prior MBE. Vocals 1969-1997; 2002-now. Original member, English Folk Legend, and almost ever-present Maddy is now synonymous with the band. Maddy first started singing in and around St Albans with Mac Mcleod ('Mac and Maddy') initially leaning towards singing a mainly American Folk repertoire.
3 de jun. de 2023 · Maddy Prior was born in Blackpool, but fresh from St. Albans when she took to the folk circuit with a banjo and Tim Hart. She was the smooth-voiced lady who, with her tales of murderers who topped people as they slept, yarns about drunken soldiers whose legs got hacked off, stories of impossible love over social barriers, and her dances to reeling fiddles, helped ease my teenage angst.
Active 1966-1971. Tim and Maddy worked as a duo from 1966-1972 and were well known on the Folk Club circuit before joining Steeleye Span. Prior and the rest of Steeleye Span were convinced to reunite in 1980 for their 11th studio outing, Sails of Silver, after which they essentially became a part-time touring band for the first half of the '80s.
