For his second solo album, Whiskey for the Holy Ghost, Mark Lanegan, the former singer for the Screaming Trees, decided to go wider and deeper. The arrangements are mostly acoustic and electric guitars, bass and drums, but the subtle addition of violin and saxophone on select cuts makes for greater variance and gives the album a rich, epic scope.

I mainly know him from his work with Queens of the Stone Age but I know he’s been pretty influential himself and with Screaming Trees. So hearing some of his solo work is interesting, and yea I like it!
15 de mar. de 2024 · Around the 90’s and the early 2000’s, Mark started getting addicted to both alcohol and heroin. His addiction became the centerpiece for the sound and the themes behind “Whiskey for the Holy Ghost.”. For the majority of the part, I thought it was a pleasant but vulnerable listen. The album is a mix of alt-country, blues, and folk.
