Lançado em outubro de 1988, sob vários pseudônimos o álbum Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1 alcançou o posto número 79 da lista dos 100 melhores discos dos anos 1980 publicada pela revista musical Rolling Stone. Posteriormente, seria indicado como Álbum do Ano no prêmio Grammy .
Traveling Wilburys var en supergruppe skabt af George Harrison (ex-Beatle) og Jeff Lynne (frontfigur i The Move, Idle Race og ELO). I begyndelsen var det en uformel gruppe bestående af Roy Orbison og Tom Petty, da de mødtes i Bob Dylans studie i Santa Monica, Californien, for at indspille et nummer til B-siden på Harrisons single "This is Love".
This edition of the Wilburys’ GRAMMY-winning 1988 debut album, Traveling Wilburys Volume 1, is now available after being out-of-print for over a decade. The album won the GRAMMY for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals, and introduced the Wilburys’ classics ‘Handle With Care’, ‘End Of The Line’ and ‘Heading For The Light,’ among others.
