A Trip to Marineville is pretty much the perfect encapsulation of my adolescence. Not so much in its themes, but most definitely in its mood. It is a perfectly imperfect album, terribly recorded, noisily mixed, redundantly played and awfully sung. However, it is as amazing in how off-putting it is, as it is entertaining.

18 de sept. de 2018 · The debut, A Trip to Marineville is a white knuckle, violent introduction to Swell Maps. They do not waste any time, the opener of ‘H.S. Art’ boasts driving punk rock, staccato keys and an almost catchy chorus, whilst the brilliant ‘Full Moon in my Pocket’ shows the band wearing their influences on their sleeve, placing surreal lyrics onto a Can backbone.
